Here, as the winter anime season is coming to an end, we have a new anime series in sight. Some of the well-known ones that are sure to catch our eye are Edens Zero, My Hero Academia Season 5, Fruits Basket Season 3, etc. The list goes on. But if you look at MAPPA’s works in the last few months, there is one other anime that should be watched out for. MAPPA has confirmed that one of their next projects will be a Sports Drama Anime under the name RE-MAIN. The anime will be raised under Tiger & Bunny writer Masafumi Nishida.
This update was made by MAPPA this weekend, where they revealed their intention to produce an original sports drama based on Water Polo. As mentioned above, the anime will be called RE-MAIN and will be led by Masafumi Nishida. He will also act as chief director, serial script supervisor, audio director, and script writer as well. In addition, Nishida will even be considered a co-creator for the series. Although the Production Studio for the anime is MAPPA, it is actually funded by BANDAI NAMCO Art. Previously, the game company had funded several anime. Some of them are, the Code Geass series, Disastrous Life of Saiki K, the Sword Art Online series, and God Eater. And judging from the anime library, RE-MAIN must also be a spectacle that must be watched.
The anime will be an original story, so there are not many sources to discuss the plot. Nevertheless, we have a small plot for the anime that was issued by MAPPA for RE-MAIN. This sports drama will follow the story of Shimizu Minato. He was once a talented water polo player, but after a very traumatic incident, he stopped his training and left the sport for good. Later, when he entered Yamanami Middle School, he continued playing water polo after he was forced by some new friends. But while he does, he will also have to deal with the trauma of his past to become the reliable player his team needs. The Yamanami High School Water Polo Team is a young team and, on its way, has run into some problems.
When will RE-MAIN be released?
As mentioned above, BANDAI NAMCO Arts is producing the anime, and for this, they have opened official website for an upcoming television anime titled RE-MAIN. The website is online this Friday, March 5, 2021, and reveals the main staff, cast, plot, and teaser visuals. For now there has been no official announcement when RE-MAIN will premiere. However, it has already been registered for 2021, so judging by the fact that the website is only being created now, the anime may be set for a fall debut.
