Since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, die-hard Percy Jackson fans have been in charge of a Disney Plus launched the Percy Jackson TV show. It started when the author of the book series, Rick Riordan, spoke on his blog about this hypothetical project. Nevertheless, fans stepped in under Uncle Rick as they lined up to Twitter, starting the hashtag #DisneyPlusAdaptPercyJackson and a petition to show interest among fans. And it looks like fans will finally get some vindication because it was announced by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson will be getting the Disney Plus series. According to Rick, the audience may spend a few hours in front of the screen, but for him, the work of his life goes through the meat grinder. And unlike the previous two not-so-good installments, this time around, the writer will be involved in every aspect of the show with his wife, Becky Riordan.
Previously in 2010, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief released. The film stars Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson, who grossed over $ 225 million on a $ 95 million budget. Meanwhile, the sequel, Percy Jackson: Ocean of Monsters, released in 2013, grossed under $ 200 million on a $ 90 million budget. These losses caused the studio to discontinue the series; thus, only two out of five books have been adapted into films. This news couldn’t hit Rick Riordan any faster because he didn’t like the film version. He didn’t like the actors for their looks, but it was the scriptwriter himself who made the big changes to the original story. The most notable change is Percy being played by an 18 year old, even though he was actually 12 years old.
What is the Percy Jackson TV Series all about?
The Percy Jackson Disney Plus TV series is rumored to be following the storyline of the five books in the series. The series will begin with an adaptation of the first book, The Lightning Thief, for the first season. This means that the show can last up to five seasons as each book will be adapted to its own season. If given the green light, the series will be adapted by Touchstone Television.
Percy Jackson is a 12 year old boy who finds out that he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. After he learned this, he was chased by mythological monsters. While he was trying to find cover, he reached Camp Half-Blood on Staten Island. This is a place where the children of gods and demigods live as they train to survive in a dangerous world. Here, he befriends two of Annabeth and Grover’s campers, because Percy is finally where he feels he belongs. Then because he was accused of stealing Zeus’ thunderbolt, he only had a few days to try and find it. As if he failed to do so, an all-out war would break out between the Gods. Percy teamed up with his new friends on his quest to the Underworld, only to then return to New York for the final battle.

The Impact of Disney Plus on the Percy Jackson Adaptation
According to Rick, the budget for Percy Jackson’s season will be close to WandaVision’s budget. WandaVision itself is a $ 200 million budget show, which just shows how much Disney is willing to bet on this new series. As for the script, the first episode script has been prepared with lots of positive reviews. However, this may change over time before it is given to Disney Executives. Lastly, no date has been set considering production isn’t in the series yet, but Disney Plus is looking forward to a 2022 release.
