MacGyver’s season 4 ended on May 8, 2020 and production announced a season 5 update that same month. Season five will premiere on December 4, 2020. The series follows Angus “Mac” MacGyver as the central character.

Starring Lucas Till as the main protagonist in the 2016 version, the series follows his life as an undercover government agent in a fictional world. He is a highly intelligent US agent who works for the Phoenix Foundation and prefers to fight crime without lethal powers because he uses his cunning engineering skills. The Phoenix Foundation is a privately funded government organization that operates under the guise of a think tank, a policy agency.

Their primary goal is to protect the national interests of the United States. Mac’s use of extraordinary knowledge of science and power helped him save countless lives. Riley Davis, a hacker who works with Mac and he believes that nothing can match the efficiency of his work. The MacGyver team also has Matty Weber, who is the director general of Phoenix, and Desi Nguyen, who is in charge of protecting the team from all kinds of threats during their mission. Each episode uses second-person narration in the voiceover that Lucas Till provides as Angus MacGyver.

This episode follows Mac and his crew as they tackle a case in which Ian Cain, Matty’s former mentor, and his embassy staff become infected with a deadly and mysterious disease.

Jerry Ortega, a former member of the Hawaii Five-0 visits Phoenix. He’s well known for his conspiracy theories and he’s helped Mac.

Jerry found several recruitment efforts by CODEX that he found valuable.

Also, Matty pulls Mac and Desi on for personal matters. He wants their help to investigate a strange illness that his former mentor, who is also a cold war hero, has suffered.

Meanwhile, Jerry learns of CODEX’s bombing requests and Russ thinks of him as the best person to disguise himself as a bomb maker.

Russ and Bozer manage to capture four CODEX members during the meeting. Additionally, Jerry took a flash drive from one of the members. Jerry and the others quickly learned from the flash driver the wider CODEX hiring effort they had ever imagined.
