Finally the wait is over. The Korean web series Kingdom, which was limited to only two seasons, has now broadened its horizons. Korean series creators always maintain a niche keeping their loyal viewers in a dilemma, and then surprise them with out-of-the-box plots. Drawing the curtain on two years of speculation, Netflix announced a special episode of Kingdom: Ashin of the North on June 4, 2021.
The Ashin of the North will be a special Kingdom episode. The 23-second announcement video was released, promising an unquenchable effort on the plot and announcing that a special Kingdom episode will be releasing on July 23, 2021 on Netflix. The episode will have the underlying flow of ‘To bring the dead back to life – A price must be paid.’ The footage is revealed with young Ashin holding a torch and entering a magnificent cave. For his amusement, he finds carvings in the rock and strange resurrection plants. With a short clip, this episode of Ashin of the North has paved the way for speculating how the revival plants growing in the northern regions paved the way to the south to wreak havoc on the lands of Joseon.
Episodes of Ashin of the North will be directed by Kim Seong-hun, the same director who oversaw production of the first season. It was also observed that Gianna Jun who made a striking appearance towards the end of season 2, will appear in the episode to demand more of her interesting character. A consequential question that has been made is- will the new episodes provide scope for season 3 of the Kingdom web series? Well, this episode will say it all.
