Demon Slayer Brings # 2 Highest US Opening for Any Anime Movie

The Demon Slayer franchise is a certified success story. Be it the source manga, the 2019 series, or the 2020 film. Demon Slayer: Synopsis

Tanjiro Kamado returns home to find his family brutally murdered. The only one still alive is his sister, Nezuko Kamado. Determined to save her, Tanjiro carried her through the snow to care for her. However, he was shocked to learn that Nezuko had turned into a demon. With the intervention of a mysterious man, Giyuu Tomioka, he learns that the man who is responsible for the tragedy of Muzan, is a demon.

Giyuu is revealed to be a Demon Slayer, an elite warrior in the shadows who kills demons. He decides to kill Nezuko but he is stopped by Tanjiro who is determined to protect his sister. However, Giyuu quickly gave up on his idea when he saw the difference in Nezuko as he tried to save Tanjiro instead of trying to kill him.

Tanjiro vows to take revenge on his family and starts enlisting in the Demon Slaying Corps. He met fellow Demon Slayers Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibara as they went together to kill a demon.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train– Response In Japan

The latest film from the Demon Slayer franchise will be released on October 16, 2020 in Japan. The film sells tickets for 365 million USD. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train broke the record set by the Academic Award winning film, Spirited away. It has now become the highest grossing film in Japan.

At the end of 2020, the franchise sales were worth 270 billion yen. The film has grossed US $ 456,140,000 in Box Offices worldwide.

In 2021, the film won the Japanese Academy Award for Animation of the Year. The film also won the Japanese Academy Award for Popularity Award – Most popular film. Additionally, Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina won the Japanese Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music for the film.

On April 23, 2021, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train opens in the US. As per a Funimation report, the film grossed US $ 21,144,800 in the US Box Office. This makes Demon: Slayer the second highest US Opening for an animated film. This film just stands behind Mortal Kombat, which has made around 23 million USD in the US Box Office. However, Demon Slayer did surpass the 2004 Chinese film, Hero having earned $ 17.8 million. This makes Demon Slayer: Mugen Train stand out as the highest US Opening for a foreign film.

The film will be available for digital streaming on June 22, 2021. Without a doubt, the film is a huge success globally. A second season is currently in development and will be released sometime in 2021.
