Cruel Summer The Final Explanation – Who Was the Kidnapper Really?
The first two episodes of Cruel Summer tell a story over three years – 1993, 1994, and 1995. Episode 1 focuses on Jeanette, while episode 2 focuses on Kate. There are different perspectives on the story that led to the kidnapping and its aftermath. The main suspect in the kidnapping is Martin Harris (Blake Lee), who arrived in Texas in 1993. He is the vice principal of the new school at Skylin High School. After Kate fell by the side of the road in episode 1, it was he who picked her up. In between kidnapping and rescuing, Martin died in a gun battle with police. As of now, he is the only prime suspect in the kidnapping. But there’s also Jeanette, a nerdy girl who becomes obsessed with Kate, a popular girl, during the 1993 timeline.
At the end of episode 2, Kate reports to the police with evidence against Jeanette. The proof is Jeanette’s You Go Girl necklace. Kate claims that Jeanette saw her at Martin’s house and didn’t report it. At the end of episode 2, Jeanette’s family sues Kate for libel. But Kate wasn’t overly suspicious either. He lied about something big. At the end of episode 2, he talks on message boards on the internet. Talking to someone with the username “Berenice 4”, he asked what would happen if the truth was revealed. This of course spreads a cloud of suspicion over Kate’s story, and she’s lying about something big. So what was he lying to? Was Jeanette responsible for Kate’s kidnapping? Since things stood up after the end of the two episodes, suspicion remained in many characters. For more updates on Cruel Summer, stay tuned Otakukart.
